Being a new cache we resorted to entering the co-ords manually, and as you do, entered one of the co-ords incorrectly. At least we enjoyed the walk past and back to the cache. We almost cam a cropper having driven up the mound to quickly realise the track had been blocked for through access. We believe more recent cachers have driven further towards the cache as there are obvious track trails following the recent rain.
Decided I’d make the SA Event my 500th find and 3rd find for the day.
Once again many many thanks to the Parrots and the Frogs for co-ordinating such a successful event. Whilst they couldn’t control the weather, they had everything else pretty much under control. The weather did add a degree of difficulty to the terrain for those in 2WD cars. Having encountered such difficulties on our third or fourth find and having slide from one side of the track to the other hopping not to get bogged, we decided not to be competitive and mixed finding event caches with normal caches and enjoyed ourselves. Will be looking forward to next years event – wherever that maybe.

As I work in Adelaide and we are going to Coobowie for the Easter long weekend, I decided to extend my long weeke end by having Thursday off and go caching, with the aim being to end up in Coobowie.

I headed up the Port Wakefield Road, then headed to Kadina where I had a very late lunch. It was disappointing to leave Kadina without having found the Pyramid caching series or the Education series. We will return one weekend to focus on those two series.

After lunch I headed off to Coobowie via Arthurton, Maitland and Ardrossan. I attempted about 8 or so caches, with all but one being a “DNF’”. By the time I arrived in Ardrossan it was about 4.30pm, so I decided to make a bee line to Point Julia where a new cache had been published.

I arrived at the location for the new cache only to find two motor homes parked nearby. What with all my recent “DNF’s”, I was not dissapointed to miss out on the “FTF” for this cache. Having logged this cache, it was onward to Coobowie.

Today as part of the Riverland Rendezvous 2 – Chowilla Floodplain CITO event an intrepid group of geocachers went geocaching on the Chowilla floodplain whilst collecting litter in and around a number of geocaches.

The group departed Renmark at 10.30am and travelled approximately 150 kilometres through the floodplain, returning to Renmark at 3.30pm. A great day was had by all that participated.

Most commented on the fact that if not for the event being listed they would not have considered geocaching on the floodplain as some didn’t have a four wheel drive vehicle, or weren’t comfortable undertaking the journey on their own.
