Orienteer at Mawson Lakes (GC18CDR)

This was the first of five finds on an evening caching with Skippy.

We searched high and low and finally came up trumps. We also had the customary visit by the security guard.

In the end I think is was more good luck than anything else that we found this cache.

Unite for Diabetes Geocoin 2007

Celebrate the first United Nations observed World Diabetes Day on 14 November 2007.

To commemorate this historic day, 5,000 World Diabetes Day 2007 Geocoins are being made available around the world.

Following the success of the Unite for Diabetes Campaign, the General Assembly of the United Nations passed a landmark Resolution in December 2006 recognizing diabetes as a chronic, debilitating and costly disease. The Resolution designates World Diabetes Day as a United Nations Day to be observed every year starting in 2007.

To commemorate the first UN observed day, 1,500 World Diabetes Day Geocoins were made available through registrations, and I was fortunate enough to secure one to commemorate World Diabetes Day 2007 on 14 November.

This initiative was supported by a grant from Merck & Co., Inc.

This was our second find for the day.

A relatively short drive out from Renmark, this cache is located just before the Big Dunlop overpass on the Sturt Highway near the Yamba roadhouse.

Took: Hogwild World Famous Travelling Geocoin / Left: Gold Lizard

This was our thirteenth and final find for the day.

Another cache on top of the cliffs on the side of the Murray River across the river from Waikerie. This cache is quite close to the edge of the cliff. If geokids are looking for the cache, be sure to be closeby and don’t left them run off ahead.
